Upcoming Changes to the Single-Family Seller/Servicer Guide
Starting in August, Freddie Mac will begin refactoring the Single-Family Seller/Servicer Guide (Guide).
What is refactoring? Refactoring is the process of reformatting and rewriting content to become more consumable by both humans and machines.
- For humans, it enhances the digital reading experience improving use and searchability of information.
- For machines, it facilitates search engine optimization.
Thank you to Seller/Servicers who shared their experience and helped guide these improvements. Your voice has made a difference.
Each Guide chapter will be reformatted to align with a standard look and feel. We’re also incorporating modern best practices for online delivery.
We’ll be refactoring the full Guide over time and will communicate the publication of each newly reformatted chapter in our Guide Bulletin. We’ll balance the number of refactored chapters published each month with the volume of other updates in each Bulletin. This will help ensure Seller/Servicers can keep up with the changes.
In most cases, refactored chapters will contain no policy changes. When a reformatted chapter is published with updated policy changes, we’ll make it clear in the Bulletin what changes were made.
