The GSEs Support Your UCD Transition
Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae (the GSEs) are committed to making certain our customers are on track with their adoption of the Uniform Closing Dataset (UCD). This update provides important clarification regarding the UCD implementation as we near the September 25, 2017 mandate.
No Change to UCD Mandate
As announced in September 2016, the UCD mandate remains September 25, 2017. Lenders are expected to adhere to the mandate and submit a successful UCD XML file for all loans being delivered on or after September 25, 2017 (based on Note Date). We also announced on June 6, 2017, that the requirement to embed the Closing Disclosure PDF in the UCD XML file will be fully enforced no earlier than April 2018.
Each GSE's respective loan delivery system will check for a successful UCD XML file submission, which will result in a "warning" edit if the data is not provided. Lenders should take advantage of these warning messages and make data updates, as appropriate. The GSEs will work with industry participants over the next several months to help remediate issues in creating the UCD XML file and embedding the Closing Disclosure PDF within the UCD XML file. We expect to resolve any issues that lenders and technology solution providers may encounter by April 1, 2018.
