Which integrations are impacted?
- Any lender that needs to update the Trust Store to new server certificates. If root or intermediate certificates are used then there is no impact.
- Any lender using a S2S interface to one of these Freddie Mac applications that is implemented with a one-way Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) that is not hosted by a software provider.
- Any integrated provider that has built an interface to Freddie Mac applications AND implemented a one-way SSL.
What if this impacts my implementation?
- For CTE: Validate your connectivity on or before October 18 and you may remove the existing server certificates after 9 a.m. on October 19. Access the CTE certificates.
- For production: Validate your connectivity on or before November 15 and you may remove the existing server certificates after 9 a.m. EST on November 16.
The new certificates will be available closer to these dates. We’ll send another communication when they’re available. You may also contact your Freddie Mac representative for more information.
Why are we updating digital certificates again?
Best practices dictate that we renew our digital certificates annually. To make this process as seamless as possible, we try to align our digital certificate renewals so they occur at the same time each year.
Please review these updates with your information technology (IT) or information security (InfoSec) administrators to determine if your organization is impacted. While your IT group should be able to assist in making any required changes, if you have further questions, contact your Freddie Mac representative or the Customer Service (800-FREDDIE) – we’re here to help.
