Which integrations are impacted?

  • Any lender that needs to update the Trust Store to new server certificates
  • Any lender using a S2S interface to one of these Freddie Mac applications that is implemented with a one-way SSL that is not hosted by a software partner
  • Any integrated partner (lender or software provider) that has built to Freddie Mac applications AND implemented a one-way SSL

NOTE: If Root or Intermediate certificates are in use, there will be no impact.

What if this impacts my implementation?

We’re making updates to use new root and intermediate certificates. To avoid service interruption, please update your Trust Store as needed with the appropriate digital certificates wherever the S2S interface is hosted/installed:

  • For CTE: Validate your connectivity on or before December 14 and you may remove the existing root and intermediate certificates after 9 a.m. EST on December 15.
  • For production: Validate your connectivity on or before January 18 and you may remove the existing root and intermediate certificates after 9 a.m. EST on January 19.

The new certificates will be available closer to these dates. We’ll send another communication when they’re available. You may also contact your Freddie Mac representative for more information.

Why are we updating digital certificates again?

Best practices dictate that we renew our digital certificates annually. To make this process as seamless as possible, we try to align our digital certificate renewals, so they all occur at the same time each year.

Please review these updates with your information technology (IT) or information security (InfoSec) administrators to determine if your organization is impacted. While your IT group should be able to assist in making any required changes, if you have further questions don’t hesitate to contact your Freddie Mac representative or the Customer Support Contact Center (800-FREDDIE) – we’re here to help.
